OUR STORY

From the desk of Conrad Reinhold, President/Owner To make a long story short, we have evolved through many phases, but one fact remains, our history dates back to 1954 when my father and brother began the first sign business. The Old Fort Howard Fire Station on Pearl Street in near west side of Green Bay was our first location. As a child, I often thought this old building was haunted, because of weird happenings. Paint cans jumping off shelves several feet to where it would land upside down, and items being placed back to where they should have been after use, or unexplained noise above our shop in what had been the sleeping quarters for the station. During the first 5 years of operation the small sign business moved one more time before buying it’s own building in Ashwaubenon (Green Bay) Wisconsin. No place has ever been more interesting than the very first shop operated by my father and brother. My father, Gus Sr. had always envisioned silk screen printing. So from the very beginning we started to screen print paper posters and any type of project requiring multiple prints of the same item. The vision of screen printing was rather futuristic for it’s time, but was a very accurate vision. The evolution of this small business over the years has gone through many phases, which usually meant adding onto the building every 3 to 5 years and adding employee’s with each phase. Many projects were quite interesting, such as: screen printing on aircraft fuselages, hand painting Elephants for the Circus, or hand lettering Packer footballs for Bart Starr’s infamous team. It was Bart's tradition to give each player an autographed game ball for every game won by the Green Bay Packers. In the late 80’s, a new building was built in a new location to house the screen print division. With changes again looming on the horizon, it was time to spin off from the original founding sign business and move on to a new level. Even today in this new 21st century, my present company "Colortech of Wisconsin, Inc." is still experiencing growth. Today, we average 25 to 30 employees’. Today, the business is made up of Commercial Sign, Vinyl Graphics, Screen Printing, and Large Format Digital Printing. My wife, Karen and I, are proud of our heritage, our family, and equally proud of all who work to make Colortech of Wisconsin, Inc. the outstanding manufacturing business it is today. Thank you for traveling down memory lane with me!
